Paul Gillett is a Senior Associate in the Major
Projects team of Maurice Blackburn in Melbourne and is
currently working on the bank fees class
action.
Paul has over 10 years of practice and expertise in retail
banking and finance, consumer credit, consumer protection, personal
insolvency and debt recovery. He also has an interest in legal
professional rules and regulations and has sat on the Legal
Practice Committee of the Legal Services Board and the Civil
Procedure Advisory Group advising the Victorian Attorney-General
and chaired by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of
Victoria.
Prior to joining Maurice Blackburn, Paul was employed as
Director of Legal Practice for the Consumer
Action Law Centre where he managed Australia's largest specialist
consumer litigation practice, and one of the country's largest
public interest law practices.
He is responsible for authoring consumer and credit law chapters
of the Fitzroy Legal Service Law Handbook and the Lawyers Practice
Manual Victoria, and is an experienced speaker and educator, having
lectured or spoken at a variety of conferences, seminars and
institutions, including the Leo Cussen Institute and in the
University of Melbourne Master of Laws program.
