Erdem Ozyurek is an Associate in the class actions and
major projects department and practices in the area of competition
law.
Erdem has experience in international price fixing and market
rigging cartel cases and is currently working on the Rubber Chemicals and Air Cargo cartel class
actions. The Air Cargo case was issued in 2007 against Qantas
and six other major international airlines, claiming hundreds of
millions in damages for users of international airfreight
services.
Erdem previously worked on the Vitamins global price fixing and
market-rigging case against Roche, Aventis and BASF. This case
was Australia's first ever cartel class action and was settled in
2006 for $30.5 million in compensation for the affected group
members.
Erdem is a member of the Commercial Law Section, Trade Practices
Committee and Young Lawyers Section of the Law Institute of
Victoria and the Australian Lawyers Alliance.
