Women lawyers offer wardrobe support at charity event
Queensland women lawyers will be donating thousands of dollars
worth of women's work wear, shoes and accessories this Thursday (21
July) in Brisbane.
Hosted by Maurice Blackburn Women's Law section, the event at
Customs House will be attended by over 100 lawyers and will benefit
the international not-for-profit organisation 'Dress for Success'
which assists disadvantaged women to find and keep jobs.
Maurice Blackburn principal lawyer Terri Butler said the firm
was proud to support a great cause.
"We have had an amazing response and are looking forward to a
fantastic night of networking and sharing our good quality work
clothes, in the name of a wonderful organisation," she said.
Dress for Success offers services designed to support employment
for disadvantaged women. Its aim it to "promote the economic
independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional
attire, a network of support and the career development tools to
help women thrive in work and in life."
"The Brisbane chapter of Dress for Success has assisted over
1,300 disadvantaged Brisbane women entering the workforce to boost
their self esteem and achieve their full potential," said Executive
Manager Lana Gishkariany.
"Our pre and post-employments programs are gaining strong
support within the community as we are providing a holistic service
for disadvantaged women keen to enter or re-enter the
workforce."
